2003 Accomplishments and Highlights
Leadership
- Took the lead on numerous local
government and environmental issues with positive results
for our members (includes representation at various meetings
with city and government officials and offering special
seminars and programs)
- Met with numerous Congressional,
State and local leaders to represent interests of members
- Raised $30,000 in new PAC funds
to AGC's Texas Building Branch in Austin
- Active participation and visibility
of the Chapter in this past year's Legislative Session
Growth and Opportunities
- Third largest AGC Chapter
- Creating value for a group of
982 member firms with 216 contractor members receiving full
member benefits, of the 216 contractor members, 142 are
general contractors and 74 are specialty contractors
- Broader array of core services
such as safety and training offered across North Texas
- More opportunities for building
relationships and meeting new people
- Access to a larger staff

Safety
- Chapters safety staff conducted
439 jobsite visits
- Safety visits and services were
provided to 132 different member firms
- QUOIN's Safety, Health and Environmental
Services staff had over 680 contacts with members
- Delivered more in-house safety
training; such as providing the 10-hour OSHA program to Contractor
Members at no additional charge for the dues paid, strengthening
member values
- Added an Environmental Services
Director to the staff
- Developed an extensive set of
Storm Water Training with the Environmental Protection Agency,
the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, etc.
- Developed Pre-Task Planning
training
- Safety Leadership Resource team

- Published new safety brochure
- Introduced new safety management
tool SafetyNet, which includes safety and environmental
- Developed safety benchmark for
the industry
Participation
- Over 9,350 individuals participated
in all member activities and took advantage of our services
- Over 1,900 individuals participated
in member forums
- Over 2,850 individuals participated
in special events
- Over 1,900 individuals attended
safety training classes
- 45 college students participated
in a total of 253 interviews with representatives of our member
firms during interview day held at quoin's Dallas location.
- 30 construction faculty from
Region V Universities participated in events surrounding our Chapter's
annual Educators Conference
- Almost 600 people participated
in professional and leadership development classes
- 181 contractor member firms
out of a total 216 contractor member firms participated in one
or more of the Chapter's services and programs
- The Chapter training facilities
were used by member firms on 313 occasions
Publicity
- QUOIN was featured in the media
or in presentations to groups on 40+ occasions
- Chapter Membership Directory
distributed to over 6,000 individuals
- Produced four quarterly magazines,
each with multiple issues with total circulation of over 200,000
with copies mailed to targeted individuals and groups. (The capability
of viewing the magazine on-line was also added.)
- QUOIN members have won 60% of
the Texas Building Branch Outstanding Construction Awards since
2001
- QUOIN members have won 3 National
Build America Awards since 2001
- QUOIN members have won 6 National
Construction Safety Excellence Awards and has had 1 individual
named National Superintendent of the Year.
- Developed the QUOINwatch, QUOINcalendar
and the QUOINminibrief. These electronic communication tools were
designed to provide members the opportunity to briefly scan critical
information, such as updates on new rules and regulations that
affect the construction industry, the new Storm Water Phase II
Rule and the Contingent Pay Issue etc., with the option to stay
updated or read the items in depth at the click of a button
- Redesigned www.quoin.org - with 180,000 hits since
December 31, 2003
