Safety Training/Education
QUOIN provides education and training to workforce personnel to assure compliance, awareness of all mandated changes, and know-how to perform their jobs safely:

• OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Training
This 10 Hour Program provides instruction on construction industry safety and health topics to participants. Upon successful completion of the program, attendees will receive OSHA 10-Hour cards through the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA. This 30 Hour Program will show you how to identify and abate safety hazards. Learn what written accident prevention plans are required by OSHA. Participants will learn how to locate and interpret standards and prepare for an OSHA audit. Upon successful completion of the program, attendees will receive OSHA 30-Hour cards through the U.S. Department
of Labor, OSHA.

• Construction Site Safety Classes (CSS) (modules: 1-11 are 4 hours each and module 12 is 8 hours)
An extensive upgrade of OSHA’s 30 Hour program. QUOIN’s Construction Site Safety Course provides in depth information regarding safety and goes beyond the 30 Hour requirements program. Upon successful completion of the Construction Site Safety program, attendees will receive OSHA 30-Hour cards through the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA.

Creating a Safe Behavior on the Jobsite
These modules may also be taught independently as needed on-site. A minimum of 10 participants is required.
The education and training listed above or any additional training that meets your company’s needs, can be done at your facility or one of QUOIN’s three (3) locations in Dallas, Fort Worth and East Texas. With adequate notification QUOIN’s representatives will travel to your project to provide training. Training available as needed in both English and Spanish.

Safety and Environmental Jobsite Audit/Analysis
QUOIN’s safety representatives will do a physical walkthrough of your jobsite(s) utilizing a new documentation tool allowing for a comprehensive and consistent method of collecting, documenting and analyzing both “safe” and “unsafe” jobsite information. The safety representative will use this information to assist your firm in creating a more accurate baseline for safety performance. Upon completion of the walkthrough, the jobsite superintendent and the home office will receive the documentation and a formal report.

Pre-Construction Safety Planning
QUOIN’s safety representatives will assist in identifying hazards, and undertake a safety and risk analysis of the work to be performed. Representatives will design training around the hazards, including implementation of QUOIN/AGC Toolbox Topics. QUOIN will assist you in developing a Health and Safety Plan specific to your project(s).

Environmental Services
QUOIN’s Safety Health and Environmental Services representative who specializes in Environmental issues and concerns, will ensure that your firm is kept abreast of current rules and regulations set forth by the following governing agencies, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) formerly TNRCC. The representative will assess your projects status in complying with the guidelines set forth by these agencies.

• Identify activities, which impact the environment.

• Develop a plan to minimize impact.

• Review plans before, during and at the end of projects in order to build a database of best practices.

• Document actions/improvements to the plan to achieve overall goals.

• Communicate issues and successes with management.

Safety Forum
QUOIN’s Safety Forum meets monthly. Forums provide QUOIN members with a place to meet on a regular basis for the purpose of collaboration and honest dialogue. The result is stronger relationships between members who are tackling similar issues often from different perspectives.

Safety Leadership Resource Team
QUOIN’s Safety Leadership Resource Team meets monthly, discussing and designing innovative ways and approaches to industry safety related issues. The group solicits ideas from safety professionals about QUOIN’s role in construction industry safety, health, and environmental risk control to set “Best Practices” to be shared by the entire industry.

OSHA/EPA Representation and Consultation
• Representation during OSHA Inspections
QUOIN has represented several member firms during OSHA inspections and accident investigations. Ensuring that your rights are protected before, during, and after an OSHA Inspection.
• Mitigation of OSHA Citations during Informal Conferences
In the event of an OSHA Inspection you receive citations and penalties, fax or mail them to QUOIN’s Safety, Health and Environmental Services Department. We will review the citations and determine the best course of action to take. All correspondence is COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL.
• OSHA Formal Contest Hearing Representation
QUOIN’s Safety Health and Environmental Services Department can provide full-service representation during an OSHA proceeding. This includes filing the necessary papers, walking you through the required notice to others of their rights, negotiating at the Pre-Hearing Conference, and representation at the appeal hearing.
• Environmental Inspections and Representation
Complying with environmental regulations is important in protecting public health and the environment. EPA is responsible for enforcing and assuring compliance with environmental regulations and may delegate this responsibility to state and tribal governments. QUOIN’s Director of Environmental Services stands ready to provide member firms with up to date compliance training and guidance and protection of your rights during inspections.
