The QUOIN Chapter of the Associated General
Contractors of America continuously strives to provide its members
with up-to-date, accurate communications of the various rules
and regulations mandated in our workforce and to provide a safe
workplace for our workers.
QUOIN’s Safety, Health and Environmental Services
Department supports implementation of the day-to-day safety
and environmental services using a broader knowledge and experience
base to provide members with the leadership, information and
tools required to advance the well being, safety and health
of all workers, with special emphasis on environmental services.
QUOIN’s Safety, Health and Environmental Services
offers the following services and educational programs: Safety
and Environmental Jobsite Audits / Analysis, Pre-Construction
Safety Planning, Environmental Services, Customized Written
Programs, Safety Training / Education, Safety Forums, Loss Prevention
Resources Team, OSHA / EPA Representation and Consultation and
much more. The majority of these services offered are at no
charge to those members who pay volume dues and are deemed Contractor
members, minimal charges may apply. For a brief synopsis of
each of the listed programs above, please see the following
page.
The Chapter’s Safety Department consists of three
individuals who are well qualified to deliver excellent safety
services to the QUOIN membership: Dan
Saddler, Christian
Pieschel, and Raymond
Critchfield — contact them at 972/647-0697 for your
safety needs and/or concerns. |
QUOIN's Worksite OSHA Compliance Analysis Program
The concern of safety on the jobsite
is a key issue in our industry today, and in QUOIN's continued efforts
to reach the vision of building the best contractor community in the
world, QUOIN's Safety, Health and Environmental Services department
is offering the "Worksite OSHA Compliance Analysis"
program.
The Worksite
OSHA Compliance Analysis program will assist the onsite superintendents
in identifying apparent violations of the Occupational Safety &
Health Administration's construction standards and educates superintendents
in providing safe jobsites for their employees and themselves.
The program
is available as a service to full contractor members at no cost. This
service not only provides the obvious benefit of reducing possible
extensive OSHA citations, but it also increases awareness among onsite
employees of safety issues, effectively reducing the possibility of
serious injuries and fatalities.
In caring
for workers and their families, QUOIN strongly promotes the vision
of ZERO incidents within the construction industry. It is the belief
that motto, "Skill, Integrity and Responsibility,"
morally mandates the pursuit of such a plateau. However, such an endeavor
can only be achieved together.

other safety related services, such as safety meetings, company safety
programs, drug abuse programs, OSHA hearing representation, and safety
classes (CSS, Scaffolding, OSHA 10 hr, etc.) just to name a few, contact
QUOIN's Safety, Health and Environmental Services Department
at (972) 647-0697.
North Texas
Construction Associations Sign Cooperative Agreement with
OSHA

On May 6, 2004, the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) and QUOIN,
a chapter of Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) will sign a Cooperative
Agreement with the Dallas and Fort Worth Offices of the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration of the United States Department of Labor (OSHA). The three
organizations mutually recognize the importance of ensuring a safe and healthful
work environment in the construction industry. To advance this mutual goal, this
Cooperative Safety Program (CSP) has been established to formalize an effort
between these entities committed to encouraging companies to voluntarily improve
their safety and health performance, providing methods to assist them in their
efforts, and recognizing companies with exemplary safety and health programs.
This
cooperative effort will provide benefits to participating
companies who voluntarily improve their safety and health
performance and demonstrate the implementation of an effective
safety and health program. Benefits will include special
recognition from OSHA, i.e., priorities in compliance assistance
activities and inspection incentives such as focused inspections
and applicable penalty reduction factors. The dedication
and commitment of ABC, QUOIN and OSHA in raising the bar
to create a safer work environment will create a positive
impact within the industry.
QUOIN
is the third largest Chapter in the Associated General Contractors
of America and all QUOIN members are encouraged to attend
this formal signing. Join us at the Construction Education
Foundation (CEF) located at 1331 Royal Lane in Irving, Texas,
in Room 136 at 8:00 a.m. as we continue “…building
the best contractor community in the world.”
Special
thanks goes to Jim Fentress of Rogers-O’Brien
Construction Company, who has dedicated his time in
chairing Safety Forums of both associations and who played
an important part in implementing the necessary steps towards
the Agreement.
